The 17th FINA World Aquatics Championships goes on in Budapest and Balatonfüred. After the event’s fascinating opening ceremony in Budapest on Friday the competitions begun in several places. The championships, which run until July 30, feature some 2,000 athletes from over 180 countries competing across six disciplines.

The open water swimming competitions were held in Balatonfüred in the Lake Balaton.
Water polo matches were organized in Budapest during the first three days in the Hajós Alfréd National Swimming Pool.
Synchronised swimming was held by Heroes Square (Hősök tere), the iconic UNESCO World Heritage site, which is located adjacent to the City Park ice rink.
