Brain Bar Budapest -organized by Design Terminal-, is a festival on the future that begin in 2015. Since then it has become the greatest “future-festival” of Europe. The event is an opportunity for great minds to debate the issues that will define our future in the long run – in discussions unhindered by conventions and unapologetic about breaking taboos. Brain Bar Budapest exists to question the status quo and foster debate on tomorrow, focusing on how new developments could transform our lives and the future of our society in Europe and beyond.
Out of 160 events, the Kreatív magazine picked the Brain Bar as the best one. In the first year of the festival, in 2015, Brain Bar Budapest hosted 81 guest speakers from nearly 20 countries. Among many others, Richard Florida, the best known theorist in the field of creative economy, world-renowned educational researcher Sugata Mitra, Stanford psychology professor Philip Zimbardo, and Tina Saaby, Chief City Architect of Copenhagen, named the world’s most livable city, all traveled to Hungary for the festival. In 2016, Brain Bar Budapest reached even greater heights. Global technology leader Google joined the festival as a key sponsor as did WIRED, the well-known technology magazine. Here you can see the promotional video of the Brain Bar 2016:
Brain Bar kicks off where other festivals throw in the towel; in describing the 2016 iteration of this intellectual event, Brain Bar’s site writes “We take the hottest potatoes and toss them into the interdisciplinary oven with extra paprika, letting ideas and visions challenge each other. Philosophers take on disrupters. Technologists clash with ethicists. All interspersed with music and performance from artists with unique and unpredictable slants on what the future holds. Join us with partners Google and WIRED and prepare to be changed.”
Save the date: the next Brain Bar Festival will be held in Budapest from the 1st to the 3rd of July, 2017. For more information visit the homepage of the festival, here.
