The passion-caramel sorbet by Norbert Dobó, a confectioner from Balatonfüred’s Füredi Fagyizó, was named ice cream of the year, and he also won the silver medal with his vanilla with honeycomb ice cream.
Both Dobó’s products are milk-based. The winning pairing, based on passion fruit, is layered with pecans, and the vanilla ice cream, which came in second best was flavored with walnut cream and honeycomb.
We combined a slightly more classic and more traditional flavor in the vanilla ice cream, the passion fruit-caramel strengthens the new line, a more modern combination.
In the Ice Cream of the Year Competition, two third places were awarded: Renáta Somogyi (from Gyenesidás’s Bringatanya Fagyizó) won a bronze medal with her green lemon with a pinch of mint ice cream, and Andrea Koncz (of Sissi Fagyizó, Gödöllő, Pest County) with a treasure of Modena balsamic vinegar.
