The 20th Békéscsaba Sausage Festival takes place this weekend between October 28 and 31 as preparations are already well underway for the event. The festival, called Kolbászfesztivál in Hungarian, is one of the most prominent culinary events of the year, a four-day program revolving around the traditional Hungarian sausage.

This year’s Sausage Festival is set to see a large turnout, while the number of teams in the several sausage making competitions is also set to be record breaking. The festival area is about 100.000 square meters and about 10.000 kilograms meat will be used during the weekend.  The 20th Sausage Festival of Békéscsaba will feature various events, including sausage making competitions, a stuffed Cabbage-cooking competition, and a competition of winter salami will also take place.

The festival will await visitors with food and agricultural exhibitions, folk music, dance and games. The official guest towns for the 20th Békéscsaba Sausage Festival are Gyula (HU) and Érsekújvár (Nové Zámky, SK). The four-day event will feature countless musical performers, including foreign guests Dr Alban and Modern Talking and Hungarian bands Ismerős Arcok, Magna Cum Laude, WellHello and many more popular musicians.
