On Saturday, 25 small breweries across Hungary will welcome visitors with a variety of events on the Day of Open Breweries (Nyitott Főzdék Napja). This year, breweries in Budapest and ten other counties have joined the initiative, many of them offering tastings of their newly invented brews.
This one-day event aims to draw people’s attention to smaller, craft breweries, project manager, Gábor Knap said. This ‘open day’ will allow people to wander around the breweries, learn about the ingredients beer is made from, and taste freshly-made brews.
Among others, Vaskakas brewery in Győrújbarát, and Beer Manufacture in Etyek, will organize tastings of their new beers, while Nyéki Sör in Képolnásnyék will be awaiting lovers of specialties with a mango-flavored beer. The brewery of Pannonhalma Abbey will offer tastings of not only beers, but a range of their own wines, too. Hübris in Székesfehérvár will await visitors with ping-pong and foosball championships in addition to beer-related experiences. Visitors to Ugar Brewery in Pécs can participate in different quizzes to win a prize of selected beers, and gin lovers are welcome in Tiszafüred, where in addition to beers, Hungarian gin will also be on offer.
In and near the capital, four breweries will be awaiting beer lovers. Rizmajer Brewery in Csepel will offer alcohol-free beers, while events at Kézműves Sörfőzde in Fót will be accompanied by concerts and an old-timer show. This, however, is just a snippet of what visitors can expect from the Day of Open Breweries. The full list of participating breweries can be accessed on the event’s website.
