Amazing August 20th Fireworks in Pictures

Hungary Today 2019.08.21.

The August 20th national holiday celebrating Hungary’s first Christian king, St. Stephen, and the founding of the Hungarian state, ended with a spectacular show yet again. If you missed Hungary’s traditional fireworks spectacle in Budapest this year or want to see it again, check out our gallery!

Over the past three days, tens of thousands of people attended different programs and state celebrations. Programs during the national holiday included a military air show over the Danube featuring Gripen fighter jets, and a holy mass in St Stephen’s Basilica.

But the traditional highlight of the national holiday was Tuesday’s fireworks in Budapest: more than 700,000 people went out to see the colorful show. Fortunately, the weather was favorable so everyone could enjoy the beautiful display over the banks of the Danube.
