ASL Hungary’s Plane Suffers Runway Excursion In Italy

Robert Velkey 2016.08.08.

ASL Hungary, formerly named Farnair Hungary Kft., is based at Budapest International airport and was established more than 20 years ago in 1991 as the first private airline in Hungary. The company became the Hungarian subsidiary of Farnair Air Transport AG, as it was then called, in 1993. ASLH now operates a fleet of B737 cargo aircraft and is part of the international ASL Aviation Group.

A cargo Boeing 737-400 of ASL Hungary from Paris (CDG) suffered a runway excursion at Bergame-Orio al Serio (Italy) on landing at around 4h local time. The accident was caused by the stormy weather at the time of landing.

The Boeing chartered by DHL failed to stop on runway 28 and skidded onto a highway.

The crew, composed of a captain and a first officer, was unhurt. The operations resumed at 6:47 local time, although many Ryanair flights are cancelled or delayed.
