In spite of the wet and bitterly cold evening in London Stadium, the women’s shot put was held and competitors headed into their finals. Although the competition was won by the Lijiaio Gong, a Hungarian woman stood on the second level of the winner’s podium.
The Hungarian shot put athlete Anita Márton again showed her talent –just as she did at the Olympics last year- she threw a medal-winning shot in the sixth round that traveled 19.49m.
Since finishing fourth at the World Championships in Beijing, Anita Márton has claimed five medals from as many championships. Her collection includes the European indoor title in Belgrade this March and a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rio.
