András Simor Receives EBRD Appointment


András Simor, former governor of the Hungarian Central Bank has been appointed Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the bank announced. Simor has been working at EBRD as Vice Presiden for Policy, and his next appointment should come into effect October 2014.

Simor will be replacing Manfred Schepers, who held the position for eight years. As Vice President for Finence Simor will be dealing with loan syndications, manage treasury and capital market development, as well as financial, business planning, budget and capital management.

EBRD Prseident Sir Suma Chakrabarti welcomed Simor’s appointment and commented “Simor brings a huge amount of experience to his new job” adding that he is “confident that the finances of the EBRD remain in steady hands.” András Simor, born in Budapest, is an esteemed Hungarian economist, was the president of the Hungarian National Bank between 2007 and 2013.
