Actor Imre Bajor Passed Away

Renowned actor Imre Bajor passed away at the age of 58 on Wednesday, 09:45, confirmed the family’s lawyer László Hegedűs, reported by MTI. Bajor has struggled with a serious tumor for quite some time, funeral plans are yet to be announced.

Imre Bajor was born on March 9. 1957, in Budapest, began his acting career at the State Déryné Theater (now Budapest Repertory Theater) in 1976.  He received nationwide recognition for his role in TV series “Szomszédok” (Neighbors) as the comic hairdresser Oli. Bajor was also an essential performer of the radio cabaret in the 90s.

Bajor loved movies as well, he appeared in films like Meseautó (2000) and Egy szoknya, egy Nadrág (2005). From 1999 he was recurring guest of humorous weekly television show “Heti Hetes” (Weekly Seven), making him one of the most known comedians of the time.

His condition took a turn for worse in 2014 when he was diagnosed with brain tumor, and while Bajor seeked alternative treatment in China, they could not cure him in the end. In 1997 he received the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, in 1999 the Karinthy Ring. He was a known and loved celebrity of Hungary, thousands followed his daily affairs.
