Erik Bánki, the Fidesz chairman of the parliament’s economic committee commented on the talks with a delegation from the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) on Tuesday.

Following the meeting, he said the delegation had voiced misconceptions and unfair attacks on Hungary and the Hungarian government, according to Mandiner.

Bánki said that the economic and justice committees had given detailed briefings to the Brussels delegates, but that the clear conclusion from the questions was that

they were basing their opinions on press reports on the most important issues.

He added that the delegation had made fundamental errors and misconceptions,i ncluding on the government’s economic policy, special taxes, transparency in the functioning of public procurement and overheads.
