The Hungarian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman strongly refuted the accusations of the Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister.
According to statements made in recent days, Ukraine wants to hold Hungary responsible for its losses on the battlefield, while members of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia are being forcibly conscripted in increasing numbers.
Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Perebyinis told the Slovak newspaper SME Svet that “the position that Hungary is taking today, that the way to peace is for Ukraine to stop its resistance to Russia, is disappointing.” According to the politician, Moscow’s goal is to occupy all of Ukraine and destroy the Ukrainian nation, and therefore Hungary supports the destruction of the Ukrainian nation.
“Hungary, which has certain relations with Russia, should call on Moscow to end its aggression and withdraw its troops from Ukraine,” he added.

reacted Máté Paczolay, spokesman for the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He called Perebyinis’ statement “a blatant provocation in an unacceptable style.”
In addition to the forced conscription of members of the Hungarian minority, in recent years Kiev has passed one law after another that curtail national minority rights. Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó warned international organizations that from September this year, minority schools will practically disappear in Ukraine. There are ninety-nine primary and secondary schools in Ukraine that currently operate as Hungarian national minority educational institutions, and the new law will make them state schools instead of minority schools from September 1, with some level of access to the Hungarian language, he explained to representatives of the Council of Europe during a recent visit to Strasbourg.
