Justice Minister Optimistic about EU Funds

Hungary Today 2023.01.26.

Judit Varga, Hungary’s Minister of Justice, speaking to Karc FM radio, expressed optimism regarding the EU funds that the European Commission is currently withholding from Hungary.

The Hungarian government expects one thing from the Commission: “Be objective, be constructive,” Judit Varga stressed.

Good faith would help a lot, because I cannot justify why it should not be in the interest of the European Commission that the Hungarian recovery agenda is fulfilled as agreed,”

she said.

Varga’s optimism stems from the fact that according to Hungary’s timetable, the requested legislative amendments will reach parliament by the beginning of March, and then the drafts can be quickly adopted.

The minister only has doubts about the possibility that the conditions could change in the process, as has happened before during the negotiations.
