After a Record-breaking October, a Warmer Than Usual November

Hungary Today 2022.12.05.

November has been warmer than usual with average rainfall, the National Meteorological Service said on its website. According to their data, November was 1.0 degrees warmer on average than the national average for 1991-2020, making it the 29th mildest since 1901.

The organization added that after a very dry October, November saw more rainfall, with the national average being in line with the multi-year average. According to the Meteorological Service’s analysis, the rainfall for November was 419 millimeters, 1 millimeter below compared to 2011, the driest year since the beginning of the 20th century.

However, the increasingly warm autumn months are foreshadowing a dangerous trend, and November was not the only month that was warmer than average. This October was the warmest on the European continent, the European Union’s Earth Observation Program reported earlier. According to Copernicus, surface air temperatures were 1.92 degrees Celsius above the average compared to the period 1991-2020.

France and Spain recorded 30 degrees Celsius or even higher in October. The hot weather is not only affecting countries typically located in the south: Greenland and Siberia also experienced warmer than average weather in October.

At the same time, everyone will remember that this summer was also extremely hot, with many countries suffering from severe droughts, which put the agricultural sector in a difficult situation. Copernicus also pointed out that

this summer was the hottest in European history.

And speaking of warm weather, after the cold of November, Hungary is set to experience and unusual warm weather in the first week of December as a result of a cyclone. Temperatures could rise to 10-11 degrees Celsius, while rain is also expected.
