Hungarian Swimmers Win Silver Medal in Open Water Mixed Team Relay

The Hungarian national team won the silver medal in the open water mixed team relay event on opening day at the World Aquatics Championships of the open water races in Lake Lupa on Sunday.

The relay team of Réka Rohács, Anna Olasz, Dávid Betlehem, and Kristóf Rasovszky finished second behind the Germans with a time of 1:04:43.00, and one photo-finish ahead of the Italians in the 6-kilometer-long (4×1500 m) race.

This is the third Hungarian medal so far at the World Aquatics Championships, as Kristóf Milák won in the 200m and 100m butterfly at Duna Arena.

Commenting after the event, Nándor Németh said that this was the first time they had teamed up, although they swam together as juniors, but "this is an adult World Championships, it's different."Continue reading

FINA writes that the event was requested by the athletes and that the format is so innovative and popular that there is talk of a place in the Olympic program, but that is a conversation for another day.
