Hungarians are generally pleased with the organization of vaccinations and restrictions introduced by the Hungarian government during the coronavirus pandemic, but less so with the protection of the economy, 24.hu reports. The liberal news portal held a survey through left-leaning institute Závecz Research, which found not only that Fidesz supporters were generally more pleased with the Orbán government’s Covid policy than United for Hungary supporters, but also that non-affiliated voters have a general average between the two.
Overall, Závecz Research’s survey found that 22.2 percent of Hungarians were highly satisfied and 14.1 percent were rather satisfied than unsatisfied with the government’s approach to the Covid pandemic. 29.7 percent of respondents were neither satisfied nor unsatisfied, 11.7 percent were rather unsatisfied, and 21.7 percent were highly unsatisfied with the Fidesz government’s performance.
These responses were based on a 1-5 grade assessment given by respondents, with the average individual rating the government with a 3 in its overall performance. Political affiliation played a significant role in respondents’ decisions, with Fidesz voters giving the government a 4.26 and opposition supporters a 2.18.
The survey took place from February 17 to 23, with 1,000 respondents representing Hungarian voters in age, sex, level of education, and voting district. The actual representativeness of responses may differ by 3.2 percent at most.

The overall results of the survey show that Fidesz voters gave the government at least a 4.1 in all answers, opposition voters did not give more then a 2.7, and non-affiliated voters rated the handling of the crisis between a 2.8 and a 3.
In Hungary, more than 45 thousand people have died from the virus according to official statistics and worldometer. More than once, Hungary could be seen at the top of the list in deaths per million throughout the world, and is still currently in the top 5.
