Coronavirus apparently didn’t hit hard on the world’s super-rich. The number of ultra-high net worth individuals, those with assets of more than $30 million (EUR 27.6 million), rose by a record 9.3% in 2021, according to a report by property consulting company Knight Frank. Hungary was no exception in this regard, as the number of Hungarian members of this elite club increased by 9.6% during coronavirus-hit 2021.
The number of extremely wealthy individuals grew to 610,569 in the world in 2021.
In regards to Hungary, there were about 215 individuals with assets more than USD 30 million before 2021, which last year rose to 235. In addition, Knight Frank estimates that this number will rise to 311 by 2026.
Moreover, the number of Hungarians with at least $1 million of assets amounted to 30,948 last year, according to the property consultant, an even larger 12.7% increase from 27,469 in 2020. In addition, by 2026, the company foresees the number to reach 47,741.
