Kövér: Fidesz-Candidate Novák “Most Qualified Candidate for President”

MTI-Hungary Today 2022.02.24.

No candidate for the office of president is more qualified than Katalin Novák, the candidate of ruling Fidesz, Speaker of Parliament László Kövér, who is also the head of the party’s national board, said in an interview published on business website azuzlet.hu on Wednesday.

Novák, while having raised three children, has achieved things in politics and public administration which highlighted her talents and work ethic, Kövér said.

She is known and recognized on the international stage, he said, noting Novák’s French and Polish high state awards.

Kövér emphasized that Novák had become known for her work on family policy, which, he said, was critical for addressing Hungary’s most critical issue, its demography challenges.

Fact

László Kövér was also among Fidesz’s potential candidates for President of Hungary. PMO Head Gergely Gulyás said that Katalin Novák was only the number two choice for the presidency, as PM Orbán had first proposed the post for incumbent House Speaker László Kövér but he  reportedly rejected the offer once again.
