Both Fidesz and United Opposition Collect Required Signatures in All Constituencies

MTI-Hungary Today 2022.02.12.

All candidates of the ruling Fidesz party and the candidates of all six parties of the united opposition have collected the required number of signatures to run in all 106 individual constituencies in Hungary’s April 3 general election, Fidesz and Péter Márki-Zay announced on Facebook on Saturday.

“Our campaign is only just beginning,” Fidesz’s Facebook post said. “Our candidates and activists will be out on the streets collecting signatures over the next few weeks.”

Péter Márki-Zay, the opposition’s joint prime ministerial candidate, said in a video posted on Facebook that “thanks to our activists, we have got the required number of recommendations.”

“We have 49 days left to build the majority […] to replace Viktor Orbán’s government of thieves…” he said.
