On December 23, a new technical recommendations on coronavirus vaccination was published on the website of the National Centre for Public Health. New information was shared, for example, about those who were infected but would like to get vaccinated.

  • In all cases, the choice of vaccine for people over 18 years of age is the responsibility of the vaccinator, who can make a decision based on professional criteria, knowing the patient.
  • There are no general contraindications to any combination for the third vaccination of persons over 18 years of age. This information is interesting, as some experts say otherwise. For example, Ferenc Jakab has said that there is “one golden rule: no vector after vector,” meaning that people who got the AstraZeneca, Sputnik, or the Janssen vaccine should not get the same shot as their third dose.

  • For those who become infected after primary immunization (first two vaccinations or single-dose vaccination), a waiting period of at least 4 months and up to 6 months is recommended for a third vaccination.
  • No definitive exemption from vaccination can be granted (unless, of course, the vaccine has caused an anaphylactic reaction). A third vaccination can be delayed for at least 4 months and up to 6 months after the onset of Covid-19 infection.

  • The reasons for postponing the third vaccination may include fever, pregnancy at risk, or severe immunodeficiency.
  • Re-vaccination of 12-17-year-olds is recommended 4-6 months after primary immunization. Adverse events following vaccination are negligible.
  • The general introduction of a fourth booster vaccination is not justified at this stage, depending on the efficacy of the vaccines and the evolution of the epidemic. There is no professional justification for a fourth vaccination for travel or work abroad.

  • PCR testing is not required before vaccination to check for possible asymptomatic infection.
  • Someone who has had the infection is not considered immunized. In all cases, a full vaccination series must be administered.
  • A third vaccination is recommended for patients receiving immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory treatment.
