Winning Photos of Hungary 365 Competition Show a Thousand Faces and Colors of the Country

The Hungary 365 photo competition was held again this year. The aim of the photo competition is to present the natural and built heritage of our country, the celebrations and everyday life of its people, and all the things we can be proud of in Hungary, with a unique perspective. 

Started in 2019, the initiative has now become a tradition. This year’s winners were announced, with 15 entries receiving prizes from the jury of renowned experts.

The competition also broke a record this year:

This year’s competition received more entries than ever before, almost 37,000, which is proof that the difficult period of the epidemic has not broken the strength of the initiative,”

said Csaba Dömötör, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, at the awards ceremony held in the Eiffel Műhelyház.

In the coming months, the works will be presented to the public in several venues. An exhibition of selected photos will be launched on the Danube embankment in downtown Pest, the state secretary added. We are also showing you some of the selected photos below:

The competition was open to individual or a series of photos in three categories: Nature and Landscape, Built and Tangible Heritage, and Photos of Life. The jury awarded three prizes in each category. The first prize is HUF 1 million (EUR 2,700), the second prize HUF 500,000 (EUR 1,350), and the third prize HUF 300,000 (EUR 810).

This year’s jury was chaired by photographer Ottó Kaiser, and comprised Éva Kossuth, Prize-winning photographer Keleti Éva; László Haris, photographer, artist laureate, member of the board of the Hungarian Academy of Arts; Imre Potyó, environmental researcher, winner of the 2020 competition, and nature photographer of the year in 2018 and 2020; and photographer Balázs Szecsődi.
