132 patients died of Covid over the past 24 hours, while 8,394 new coronavirus infections were registered in Hungary, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Thursday.
The number of active infections has risen to 83,818, while hospitals are treating 4,990 Covid patients, 488 of whom need respiratory assistance.
Since the first outbreak, the number of fatalities has risen to 31,751, while 931,414 infections have been registered. Fully 815,845 people have made a recovery.
So far 5,986,727 people have received a first jab, while 5,764,573 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 1,475,000 Hungarians have received a booster jab.
There are 39,655 people in official quarantine, while 7,715,195 tests have been officially carried out.
The government announced last week that employers were being given the right to require vaccination against Covid-19 as a precondition of employment in order to ensure workers’ safety. The state, as an employer, will also apply the measure, and mayors will have the right to introduce the requirement at local councils. Mask-wearing has also been made mandatory on public transport again from Nov. 1, and a visitor ban is also being introduced at hospitals.
