Those who do not wear masks in accordance with Hungary’s mandatory public transport mask requirement introduced on November first may be subject to 22 euro fines, the Hungarian Official Gazette announced on Thursday.
Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) also made a Facebook post emphasizing the need for face coverings not only during travel, but also at railway stations and bus and tram stops.
Starting Monday, on the vehicles of MÁV, MÁV-HÉV, and Volánbusz stations and stops, masks covering the nose and mouth are mandatory in both open and closed areas. Exceptions are given to children under the age of six, as well as those who provide proof of a mental or psychological disability or of living on the autism spectrum.”
BKK also emphasized that those who are still unwilling to wear a mask after being warned may be subject to a 22 euro (8 thousand forint) fine, and will not be allowed on public transport vehicles.
