Justice Minister Accuses German News Agency DPA of Spreading Fake News on Hungary

MTI-Hungary Today 2021.07.07.

Justice Minister Judit Varga on Tuesday accused German news agency DPA of disseminating fake news in connection with the European Commission’s assessment of Hungary’s post-pandemic recovery plan.

“Before the fake news campaign against Hungary could deceive anyone, let’s be clear: Brussels has not thrown back Hungary’s recovery plan,” Varga said in an English-language Facebook post. Hungary remains open to a constructive dialogue with the EC, she said.

The minister, however, confirmed reports that the EC had formulated “new demands” after Hungary passed its new child protection law, saying that the commission’s demands “are obviously related to the child protection regulations”.

“Brussels cannot take away for any political reason what Hungarian people have worked for,” she added.
