5th Annual Oktoberfest Being Held in Budapest!

By Tom Szigeti // 2017.10.05.

This weekend, from October 5th to the 8th, Budapest’s Kincsem Park will play host to the city’s fifth annual Oktoberfest, a 4-day-long celebration of food, culture, and, of course, beer.

Visitors to Budapest’s Oktoberfest will be able to get a taste of Bavarian culture without having to travel all the way to Munich. From liter steins of delicious German beer, to classic dishes such as Wiesn-Hendl (Oktoberfest-style roast chicken) and Bavarian pretzels, to exciting musical acts, the Oktoberfest will undoubtedly be a weekend to remember.

The festival has expanded this year, and as such there are even more beer tents to choose from. These include the Paulaner Great Tent, which will host the larger musical acts, such as Hungarian rock stars Beatrice; the Hacker Pschorr Sramli Tent; the Warsteiner Plaz, where there will be a DJ all night long; the Erdinger Beer Tent, which every night will play host to a ‘Saxon Ball’; and many others, including gastro food tents, a theme park, and of course horse races as well.

This year, festival organizers have announced that it is likely that festivalgoers will not be able to buy tickets at the gate; for this reason, if you are interested in making a trip to Bavaria, while remaining within the confines of Budapest, you can buy your tickets here.
