Ferenc Sullivan 2014.12.16.

A student at Hungary’s Moholy-Nagy University of Arts has made his highly successful 16-minute animation film freely available to the public for watching on VIMEO.

After being screened in 63 countries at more than 300 festivals and winning over 120 awards, Péter Vácz’s graduation film ‘Rabbit And Deer’ can now be viewed free of charge on the Internet.

Rabbit and Deer is a charming short animated film about the friendship of two loveable characters whose peculiar dilemma leads to a bittersweet end. As the film’s synopsis reads,  Rabbit and Deer are living happily and careless until their friendship is put to the test by Deer’s new obsession to find the formula for the 3rd dimension. After an unexpected accident Deer finds himself in a new world, unknown to him. Separated by dimensions the two characters have to find the way back to each other.
The film, with its visual and emotional complexity, is engaging to both children and adults.

Final-year student at Budapest’s Moholy-Nagy University of Arts (MOME) Péter Vácz has produced a stunning, multidisciplinary work of art which has become a favourite at festivals around the world. At the beginning of the year, it was named by Hungarian film critics as the best animation film of 2014 and was also acknowledged in Annecy, France, at one of the world’s most prestigious festivals for animation films.

It won the Grand Jury Prize for the best animated short at both the Nashville Film Festival and the Arizona International Film Festival and was named the best animation of 2014 at the Atlanta Film Festival.
