A business forum, a pastry competition, concerts, and film screenings will be held as part of the Swiss Days series of events in Pécs, southern Hungary, between October 4 and 8.
The event will kick off with a Swiss-Hungarian business forum entitled “Circular Economy for a Sustainable Future,” also providing information on innovative solutions. The roundtable discussion will feature representatives of Swiss and Hungarian companies such as Holcim, Roche, and Kontakt Elektro Kft. Roche will also present the content of a cooperation agreement with the University of Pécs, signed at a gala evening event with a pastry competition.
From October 5, the Swiss Pavilion will open in the House of Civil Communities, where an exhibition on Swiss clean technologies and an interactive wall presenting Switzerland will provide information about the country.

As part of the program, the Swiss-born confectioner Christoph Caflisch, founder of the legendary Caflisch confectionery in Pécs, will be buried in the cemetery of Pécs. Ambassador Jean-François Paroz will visit secondary schools to meet students and participate in question and answer sessions in German and French as part of the “Switzerland in your school” program.

The band Alphorn Pilatus Kriens will bring a taste of traditional Swiss music to the city, while cinema lovers will enjoy free screenings at the Apollo cinema.
On Sunday, the “Swiss Picnic” will also offer Swiss specialties, including the famous Alpine cheeses Raclette and Tete de Moine, as well as wines and products from selected Swiss companies.

As Swiss Ambassador Jean-François Paroz pointed out, Switzerland and Hungary share many important chapters in European history and both countries benefit from close cultural and economic ties. The Hungarian diaspora in Switzerland is a special link, with Hungarians who fled after the 1956 revolution finding a welcoming home, taking jobs, and contributing to Switzerland’s progress. Economic relations between the two countries are not negligible either. According to 2022 figures, Switzerland is the 11th largest investor in Hungary, and Swiss companies employ more than 30,000 people in the country.
