UK Nationals in Hungary Have One Month Left to Apply for Residency

MTI-Hungary Today 2021.12.02.

UK nationals living in Hungary have only one month left to submit their residency application, the British embassy said on Wednesday.

So far 1,200 UK nationals have applied for residency but there are still many who need to do so before the deadline, the embassy said in a statement.

“UK nationals living in Hungary before the 1 January 2021 must apply for residency by 31 December, including those who have a residence permit issued before Hungary’s accession to the EU (pre 2004) or those married to a Hungarian national, unless they are Hungarian citizens (dual nationals),” it said in the statement.

ONE MONTH TO GO UNTIL THE RESIDENCY REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR UK NATIONALS LIVING IN HUNGARY

Are you a UK national settled in Hungary? Have you already applied for a new, Withdrawal Agreement residence document called National Permanent Residence Permit (Nemzeti Letelepedési Engedély)? If you do not yet have this new document make sure that you apply for one before 31 December 2021 to secure your rights in Hungary. All UK nationals must apply, including those who are married to a Hungarian national, unless you are a Hungarian citizen (dual national). From January 2022 only these cards will be accepted as valid proof of your right to reside in Hungary.
