Sports are Worth Investing in Even during Difficult Times

MTI-Hungary Today 2022.09.26.

The Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office addressed the inauguration of a new sports and events center in Budapest.

The Levente Riz Sports and Events Center (RSR) has been inaugurated in Budapest’s 17th district, Rákosmente, on Saturday. The new 6,000 square meter, two-story facility was built with more than HUF 11 billion of government funding and will meet all needs and provide opportunities for people living in Rákosmente to play sports, attend cultural events, and meet for generations, Gergely Gulyás, the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, said at the ceremony.

The center is named after the district’s previous mayor, the late Levente Riz, who died in 2019. Gulyás stressed that the creation of the center is largely thanks to Levente Riz, “who was well aware back in 2008 that Rákosmente cannot be just a sleeping city of the growing capital, that for a good and meaningful quality of life, communities need to be strengthened, and that the spaces needed for communities to function and opportunities for meetings need to be created.”

Gulyás said that sports are worth investing in even in difficult times, and the building will preserve the memory of Levente Riz not only in name but also in spirit.
