South Korea Guest of Honor at the Festival of Folk Arts

Mariann Őry 2022.08.04.

The 36th Festival of Folk Arts will be held in the Buda Castle between August 19-21. This year’s guest of honor is the Republic of Korea.

Craftsmen from South Korea will introduce visitors to calligraphy, temple and folk painting, Korean patchwork, pyrography, ceramics and paper weaving. There will also be exhibitions, interactive workshops and a fair featuring the nine artists who are coming all the way from South Korea for this year’s festival.

The main stage will host a spectacular show twice a day, with brightly colored costumes, traditional instruments, captivating dances and rhythms.

According to the organizers, fashion lovers will be able to admire the eye-catching hanboks (Korean folk costumes), at a fashion show. Throughout the day, Korean and Hungarian artists will perform all around the event area to evoke the atmosphere of traditional fairs with their music.

And for those looking for Korean gastronomic experiences, street food stalls will offer a variety of spicy, sour, salty, bitter, and sweet dishes.
