German Bundesliga team Hertha BSC Berlin parted ways with Hungarian coach Pál Dárdai on Monday, the club announced on its official website.

“The management of Hertha BSC, after a thorough analysis of the current situation, has decided to release Pál Dárdai from his duties as coach with immediate effect,” reads Hertha’s announcement on their homepage. The contracts of the two co-coaches, Andreas Neuendorf and Admir Hamzagic, have also been terminated.
Sports managing director Fredi Bobic has thanked Dárdai for his work:
We would like to expressly thank Pál Dárdai for his work. He took over the team last season in a difficult situation and kept it in the first class under challenging circumstances.”
According to Bobic, the team needed a different “impulse.”
With Dárdai at the helm, Hertha BSC played a draw with Augsburg on Saturday. Hertha was very close to winning the relegation battle, but in the stoppage time, in the 97th minute, Augsburg equalized.
During his second stint at the club, club legend Dárdai managed the team for ten months, during which time he secured their place in the Bundesliga last season. Currently, the Berliners are in 14th place with 14 points, one point ahead of Augsburg, which is in the relegation zone. Since January, the Hungarian coach has collected 10 wins, 8 draws, and 13 defeats.
Dárdai’s successor is 47-year-old Turkish coach, Tayfun Korkut, whose contract lasts until the end of the season.
