Far-Right Mi Hazánk on State Television: “We Were Last Here 2 Years Ago”

Hungary Today 2022.03.31.

It has been two years since his party last appeared on state television, with this remark the leader of the radical right-wing party began his presentation on public television station M1 on Wednesday morning. Each of the parties running on the national list for the parliamentary elections can introduce themselves with a five-minute presentation on Wednesdays and Thursdays on the morning show of M1 and Kossuth Radio.

On Wednesday, party leader László Toroczkai represented the radical right-wing Mi Hazánk Mozgalom (Our Homeland Movement) on state television and took advantage of the 5-minutes to introduce his party in the short time available. Before he started this, he admitted that he and his press spokesman had checked when he had last appeared on public television: about two years ago.

Toroczkai then said that his party is an alternative for those who would not vote for the two major political blocs and who are curious about the hidden truth, or those who want a “normal press” in Hungary. He pointed out that they have a 100-page program, unlike Fidesz or the opposition.

The opposition doesn’t have a program either, the primaries were only about who would sit on the “velvet chair.” Viktor Orbán also has no program, because “they were busy slaughtering pigs.”

Their 100-page program can be found on their website, most of which is about strengthening/rebuilding the national economy. Toroczkai again referred to the coronavirus as a biological weapon, citing the opinion of a Hungarian researcher. He also talked about how the epidemic has weakened national economies and how the new world order is slowly taking place.

In his opinion, three political forces have a chance to enter parliament (Fidesz, the opposition, and his party) and possibly the satirical Two-tailed Dog Party as well. However, they have a very difficult task because not only do they lack a public media platform but they have recently been excluded from social media as well.

According to the deputy leader of the party, Facebook's action "provides yet more evidence" that the social media giant is "deliberately interfering in the Hungarian parliamentary elections."Continue reading
