Lufthansa Cancels All Flights to Budapest

Hungary Today 2024.02.07.

The Verdi trade union has called a warning strike by Lufthansa ground staff on February 7 and 8, with only 10-20% of the German airline’s flights operating on Wednesday, and all flights to Budapest canceled, reports AIRportal.

The strike by the Verdi trade union among ground staff at Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, and Düsseldorf airports from 4:00 a.m. Wednesday until 7:10 a.m. Thursday morning will have a significant impact on the timetable.

Today, on February 7, Lufthansa will only be able to operate 10-20% of its flights.

Affected passengers have been notified by email or via the airline’s mobile app, and has offered free rebooking and vouchers redeemable for train tickets on domestic flights. Passengers of canceled flights are asked not to go to the airports, as there will be no staff at customer service desks due to the strike.

According to Budapest Airport’s flight information system, Lufthansa has canceled all flights between Frankfurt and Munich and Budapest on Wednesday.

Eurowings flights to Stuttgart and Düsseldorf are not affected by the strike this time.

The strike is the result of collective negotiations between Lufthansa, Lufthansa Technik, Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services, Lufthansa Engineering and Operational Services, and some 25,000 ground staff from other companies in the group. So far, the union says that the employer has not made an acceptable offer. The next negotiations will take place on February 12.
