Prime Minister Orbán and President Amherd emphasized the necessity of easing Israeli-Palestinian tensions and working towards de-escalation.

Ms. Amherd proposed holding a peace conference in Switzerland in June to address the war in Ukraine, to which Mr. Orbán expressed Hungary’s support for all peace initiatives but stressed the immediate need for a ceasefire before engaging in peace talks.

Following the meeting with the Prime Minister, the Swiss President met with her counterpart, Tamás Sulyok, at the Sándor Palace.

In a press conference afterward, Ms. Amherd highlighted discussions on the tense security situation in Europe, the Russian-Ukrainian war, and the planned Swiss peace conference in June aimed at initiating the peace process.

This conference aims to provide a platform for all participating countries to express their ideas for achieving a lasting and just peace in Ukraine.

Additionally, the meeting covered discussions on the activities of international bodies such as the UN Security Council, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and the Council of Europe. The situation in the Middle East was also addressed, as mentioned by the Swiss President.
