Between 11 and 13 May, the National University of Public Service (NKE) will host a military show, free university lectures, concerts, and family programs at the Ludovika Festival in Orczy Park in Budapest.

The Ludovika Free University will take center stage on Thursday and Friday, 11-12 May. During the two days, internationally renowned experts will give lectures, such as Edward N. Luttwak, world-famous American author and advisor to the US Department of Defense, Charles J. Vörösmarty, honorary doctor of the NKE, one of the world’s prominent experts on hydrology. Scott Donovan, Director of the Budapest Chapter of the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA), will speak on US law enforcement trends, and Dave Walsh, Professor of Criminal Investigation at De Montfort University, will give a presentation on interrogation techniques.

In addition to NKE academics and researchers, participants will also have the opportunity to meet Balázs Orbán, the Prime Minister’s Political Director, Tibor Navracsics, Minister of Regional Development, and Brigadier General Imre Porkoláb, Ministerial Commissioner for Defense Innovation.

On Friday evening, Hungarian bands will give free concerts.

The organizers are preparing static and dynamic defense demonstrations: visitors will be able to see the Leopard 2A4 armored fighting vehicle, the Gidrán multipurpose armored vehicle, the KF41 Lynx infantry fighting vehicle, and the PZH-2000 self-propelled gun at the Ludovika Campus.

In addition to the chemical defense demonstrations, visitors will also have the opportunity to see special weapons and learn about military cyberspace and cyber warfare from the Cyber and Information Operations Center of the Hungarian Defense Forces.

The family day on Saturday will also feature law enforcement demonstrations alongside military programs with the Hungarian Defense Forces’ JAS-39 Gripen fighter aircraft and H145M and Mi-24 helicopters.

The event is free of charge, but on Thursday and Friday, registration is required to participate in the free university activities and to enter the party tent. More information is available on the festival website.

The festival is named after the university’s campus called Ludovika. Between 1808 and 1945, this building was home to Hungary’s officer cadets training institute.
