Hungarian Cultural Institute to Host Concert Honouring Visegrad Group in Vienna

The Collegium Hungaricum in Vienna will hold a classical music concert in the city’s Musikverein on Wednesday in honour of the Visegrád Group (V4).

The Hungarian cultural institute, in cooperation with the Hungarian Embassy in Austria, invited excellent musicians from each country of the Visegrad Group – Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary – to perform music by their countries’ notable composers.

Poland handed over the year-long rotating presidency of the Visegrad Group to Hungary at a ceremony in Warsaw in June. This is the fifth Hungarian presidency of the V4, and for this occasion, this year’s Intonation concert will have a V4 theme.

Hungarian pianist Fülöp Ránki, Polish violinist Mateusz Kasprzak-Labudzinski and pianist Piotr Kopczynski, Slovakian pianist Milos Bihary and Czech guitarist Martin Skubal will perform works by Szymanovski, Kodaly, Suchon, Liszt, Haydn, Dukay and Obrovska. The concert will take place at 7pm on 29 November, at the Musikverein Metallener Saal in Vienna.
