László Kövér, the speaker of Hungary’s parliament, has held talks with Li Junhzu, the deputy head of the People’s Congress of China’s Shaanxi Province, in the capital city of Xi’an.
He praised Hungary’s current relations with China as unprecedented. Kövér said that whereas HungarianChinese friendship had a long tradition going back in history, recent economic development in both countries had triggered intensive cooperation in several areas. This is reflected in Hungary’s position as China’s “gateway” to central Europe and the recipient of the largest amount of Chinese investments in the region, totalling 4 billion dollars. Chinese businesses employ more than 10,000 people in Hungary.
Trade relations with Shaanxi have developed apace over the past year, mainly in IT and vehicle manufacturing, Kövér said.
