“For me, Lake Balaton is the Riviéra”, reads the old Hungarian song. Indeed, as the summer season is here, market demand for lakeside resort houses at Lake Balaton increasingly grows, news portal origo.hu reported.
However, prices massively vary, depending not only on the date of the construction but also on the geographic location, a joint research by real estate portal ingatlan.com and banking website bankracio.hu reveals. Siófok on the Southeast and Balatonfüred on the Northeast, also known as Hungary’s summertime capitals, are the two most expensive towns for both newly-built and second-hand apartments. Prices here are similar to the real estate prices of Budapest.
According to the survey that analyzed about 20.000 property ads around lake Balaton, 10 percent of the potential buyers are looking into the possibility to buy a resort house in Siófok. Balatonfüred comes second with 4 percent, followed by Balatonalmádi with 3 percent. Keszthely, Zamárdi, Balatonkenese and Fonyód are also very popular targets, the research shows. About 60 percent of buyers are looking for houses that worth somewhere in the range of 10 to 30 million forints.
