The Hungarian Prime Minister sent a congratulation letter to Alexander Van der Bellen (pictured above), Austria’s president-elect, Viktor Orbán’s press chief said. “I am very much looking forward to working together in the years ahead, to contribute to the development of the central European region and resolve the challenges facing the European Union,” he said. Viktor Orbán assured the president-elect that he is ready to further develop ties and deepen the partnership with Austrian leaders, Bertalan Havasi added.
The press chief also said that the Hungarian Premier held talks with Slovakia’s President in Hungary’s Parliament as part of Andrej Kiska’s official visit to Budapest on Monday. Hungary and Slovakia both share an interest in one another’s success, Viktor Orbán said. He agreed with Andrej Kiska that cooperation between the Visegrad countries reinforces what remained “stable and prosperous” economic cooperation between Hungary and Slovakia even amidst the current political and economic difficulties facing Europe. Bilateral ties are stronger than at any time in the past, the two leaders agreed. They also reviewed the situations of each country’s respective minority, the spokesman said.
