Highlights of Hungary is an initiative aimed at introducing the best of Hungary’s creative industries to the public – the emphasis is on creativity, irrespective of categories, context, medium or platform. The competition was launched for the second time this year by Super Channel, a hub for the value management of the creative industries. The ten awarded projects were chosen by the audience from a field of 44, put together by ten curators representing the peak of the profession. Results were announced in the Toldi cinema, Budapest, late on 5 February. This year’s competition was won by one of Hungary’s best-known and most original charities, Budapest Bike Mafia.
Founded by young cyclists on Christmas 2011, Budapest Bike Mafia (BBM) is one of the country’s most dynamically growing NGOs. The organisation’s members are civilians who use innovative methods to help the needy.
Their fundamental activity is collecting donations, which members of the team then deliver to those in need. The concept is characterised by an innovative combination of social work, volunteering, donating and using the bicycle.
