As part of yesterday’s May Day celebrations (Hungary’s Labor Day), Formula 1 racers took part in an exhibition in heart of downtown Budapest.
This event, called the “Great Run” (Nagy Futam), is a venture of Hungary’s Formula 1 race, the Hungaroring, and “has the explicit aim of bringing the motorsport closer to the people.”
The track ran from Deák Square, down Andrássy Avenue until Oktogon square, where professional drivers would turn around and head back towards Deák.
Crowds lined the edges of the inner-city “racetrack” that had been set up for the day, as the roar of engines could be heard across Budapest. The day’s entertainment included Formula 1 cars, autocross, rallycross, rally, cross country rally, truck, and drift racers.
