This weekend marked the first Critical Mass, an annual demonstration in Budapest for safe biking, specially organized for disabled and handicapped people. The event, titled Rehab Critical Mass, started off from the Ministry of Human Resources as supporters marched trough Budapest.
The Ministry of Human Resources announced its support in a statement, saying that the government intends to spend EUR 20 million (6 billion HUF) on accessibility during the upcoming 2014-2020 Széchenyi development program . “The goal is not only to make public buildings and spaces accessible, but public services as well”, said the statement.
The event was broadcast live on streaming service ustream, as more than a thousand people gathered to express their support. The march ended on Elisabeth square, where concerts and speeches concluded the first Budapest Rehab Critical Mass.
