The Vice-President of the European Commission (EC), Jyrki Katainen, has paid an official visit to the Hungarian Parliament today and attended a working lunch with Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, press chief of the cabinet told media. The meeting was also attended by cabinet chief János Lázár, foreign minister Péter Szijjártó and minister of national development Miklós Seszták.
The European Union is ready to provide support for innovative research in cooperation between universities and businesses under a 300 billion euro European investment programme announced last November, said EU Commissioner Tibor Navracsics, who was accompanied by EC Vice President Jyrki Katainen, commissioner in charge of job creation, growth, investment and competitiveness.
The European Commissioners were in Budapest as part of a roadshow to promote the EU’s investment plans and opportunities for governments, investors, businesses and regional authorities.
