Sam Clancy, age 24, went missing after being separated from a group of 22 that had come to Budapest for a stag party. Yesterday, it was determined that the young man had been hit by a car on Friday evening.
Witnesses last saw Mr. Clancy “getting into a taxi” near Budapest nightclub Morrisons shortly before 10:20pm.
The father-of-one apparently attempted to cross Budapest’s Váci Road when he was struck by a car. He was killed instantly.
News of his death comes after days of “desperate” searching for the young man on the part of his friends, family, and Hungarian authorities.
Mr. Clancy leaves behind a fiancé and two-year-old daughter.
In a statement, the British Foreign Office said that “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Budapest. We are in contact with the Hungarian police and hospital services.”
Since news of Mr. Clancy’s tragic death, tributes have poured in on Twitter and Facebook.
