Water Wonders of the Natural World: Nature Photos in the Buda Castle Garden Bazaar

Until January 2 of next year, visitors to Budapest’s Várkert Bazár (Castle Garden Bazaar) will be able to view an exhibition of 41 stunning nature photos, all of which are related to one simple, yet crucial topic: water. The images, which will be displayed as an outdoor exhibition along a fence, are the work of 26 Hungarian photographers, artists with diverse approaches and styles.

The exhibition’s theme was inspired by the upcoming World Water Summit, which will be held in Budapest November 28th-30th, and whose motto is “Water Connects.” The Summit’s chief patron is Hungarian President János Áder, and the photo exhibition itself was organized in cooperation with government ministries.

The series of images currently on display in the Castle Garden Bazaar were curated and edited by Hungarian nature photographer Milán Radisics, who, in describing the exhibition, explained that

The photos are varied and diverse – just as the theme of this exhibition, water, is. Therefore, I didn’t contain the images in frames or organize them into chapters. I selected them so as to allow a free dialogue between the works. 41 photos: let a drop of dew talk with the sea, ice with mist, inland water with the ocean, the water-strider with the shark, the depths of the ocean with tall mountains, local landscapes with foreign ones, purple drops with green ones, polar ice with tropical showers, untouched nooks with urban views. The small with the big, the digital with the analogue, the connected with the disjointed, so as to allow the viewer to form a third image in the mind after viewing any two…. And perhaps this will burn the final message into people’s retinas, and they will carry it far: let us respect, admire and love our blue planet!

A number of the images from the exhibition can be found below, for more photos check out this photo gallery at hvg.hu.
